Sincere and heartfelt condolences. John was a good friend, a colorful master of ceremonies, a reader of the New York Times, a lover of good wine, and a griller of filet mignon. He was assertively opinionated, and never more trenchant than when discussing Donald Trump. We shall never watch the Academy Awards without thinking of him. He was the only man who could swim for half an hour, with mask and snorkel, without moving more than two feet. His passing is a great loss for those who knew and loved him.
