I met Kathryn through Rob, who was (and remains) a cherished mentor and colleague to me in my early career. Their love for one another is a testament to all the marriage can be. She radiated kindness, warmth, and encouragement in our brief meetings over the years. Her memory will be a blessing to all who met her. My sincere condolences to Rob and the entire family on this heavy loss.

Stephen Slemon and I were so sorry to hear of Kathy's death. Her passing is a terrible loss--to her community, her friends, her family, and most of all to Rob. Kathy was warm, elegant, intelligent, and passionately interested in everything. We convey our deepest condolences.

I read, with sadness in my heart, at the passing of Kathryn. While I never met any of you, Kathryn and her historical book on Alberta Farmers' Markets has been an integral part of my life since it was written and first published. At the time, I was managing the Alberta Farmers' Market program. Since then, I use some of Kathryn's early stories about the market as part of what I share as a guide with Alberta Food Tours. I am forever thankful for the time that Kathryn was in my life, and for this gift that she left me and those of us associated with markets in this province. I enjoyed her market vendor discoveries as we shared a coffee, and to this day, I rarely drive down Stony Plain Road without thinking of Kathryn and the home she guided me through, this many years ago. My sincere condolences on the loss of such an exceptional person.

Dear Robert, Margaret and I were sorry to learn about Kathryn's passing. She was very supportive of many of my interests in horticulture, beautification and related activities and opportunities for Edmonton. In fact prior to my knowing of her passing, I sent her an email on July 5th to inform her of an Edmonton initiative to allow for residents to plant and beautify boulevards. She would have been particularly pleased as she had been so eager to plant the boulevard at your apartment building. We did not win that battle then but perhaps we did sow the seed that resulted in the present program. I very much appreciated her efforts to record the horticultural efforts of both Lois Hole and myself in her wonderful book: "Why Grow Here". We fondly remember the interesting conversations with you and Kathryn at various EHS events. Robert, we send our heartfelt condolences to you at this time of sorrow. John and Margaret Helder
