Dear Elaine, Lorene and family,
My deepest condolences to you on the loss of your husband, father and grandfather.
I have many great memories of Alex over the years, from childhood to recent years.
Paul mentioned memories of a trip to Campbell River and Alex getting everyone to try raw oysters. I remember that too. But another memory from that trip was Alex touting the benefits of goose grease to ensure a good tan. He would slather it on and expound on its advantages as natural and superior to store bought oils. Was it really goose grease? I can't be sure, but it was funny and he had us all in stitches!
I also remember babysitting sweet little Lorene, and how much fun we had.
Another memory is Alex as a knight in shining armour, coming to my rescue after I'd been thrown from my horse while galloping all over town with some of my fellow cowgirls. My horse was fresh from the country and unfamiliar with the sights and sounds of town, and I wasn't much of a cowgirl yet. It happened in the field that is Ball Diamond #1, in front of the Kozeluk home of the time. He heard the commotion and came to get me, insisting on taking me home. I was shook up but otherwise fine. My friends took the bronc back to the stable. I remember appreciating Alex's swift action and concern.
Many years later, when I returned to Devon, I taught at Robina Baker with Alex as my principal, and eventually Elaine as a colleague. I enjoyed my years there. Alex was always supportive of innovative and new teaching strategies and a well rounded curriculum. Elaine was lovely to work beside.
Alex and Elaine were good friends with my parents and they enjoyed that relationship over the years.
Hugs to you Elaine, Lorene, Mladen, Nathan and Taea. May your memories bring you comfort.

Lorene, I loved reading your dad?s bio, especially the early years! Such fortitude people had back then. Your parents did an amazing job raising a wonderful daughter, who is a true blessing among us. With you as his legacy, your dad absolutely leaves this world a better place than he found it. Big hug to you , my friend.

As a teenager I was very gratified to be paid kind and generous attention by Lorene's parents Alex and Elaine. It was thanks to them that I attended my first-ever classical music concert?Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto at the Northern Jubilee.

It is with great sadness that we have lost Alex. I worked with Alex in my early teaching years and I taught Lorene in grade one. Alex was a good principal and Lorene was a delightful child. Elaine and the Kozeluk family were good friends with the Weirs. We shared many dinners and good times together in Devon over the years. I missed Alex and Elaine when they moved from Devon to St. Albert. I send condolences to the family.

Dear Elaine and family? how sorry I am for your loss of Alex. He will be missed so much after all of these years. Alex was my first principal and Robina Baker was where I spent almost all of my teaching years. I have many memories of Alex that bring a chuckle. Elaine and I taught grade two together after Alex had retired. That was quite a jump for her after years of Junior High. I remember thinking that Elaine was so lucky to be going home to a clean house and supper made by Alex after a long day at school. Denis and I together send condolences to the family.

They were inseparable then and seemed to be made for each other. I found a photo of them in my highschool album that I wish I could share. Our deepest sympathy to Elaine, Lorene and family. Throughout the years we have enjoyed our friendship with Alex and Elaine. My association with Alex began in the Devon School District in my role as Superintendent and Alex as Principal of Robina Baker school. We had many good years together through to Alex?s retirement. In more recent years, Alex and Elaine moved to St. Albert where we have visited each other in our homes and at social events. We have many good memories of Alex and are thoughts are with Elaine and family at this time.

I have many great memories as a child holidaying with the Kozeluks. Some were skiing in Jasper, but my most vivid was in Campbell River, BC. Mr. Kozeluk was a seafood fan, and he talked me into eating raw oysters right out of the shell! Fun times!
He had a great sense of humour and quick wit. Mr. Kozeluk will be missed but not forgotten.
