Dear Anne, Craig, Tammy and Theresa and all your spouse, and children. Hearing of your loss made me very sad because it instantly brought back memories of how we (my children and I) felt 14 years ago. My thoughts and prayers will be with all of you as you navigate through the coming days and weeks. Your memories of husband and father will always be in your hearts and minds and bring you joy,and even laughter in the days ahead. I'm sorry that I will not be able to be with all of you on Wednesday, but I'll be thinking of you. Love Nancy

Shutt family: When I learned of the passing of Dr. Shutt - it took me back to a place when we were all much younger - wrapped in a family unique to its own environment... the Masonic family - with Jobies and DeMolay at the centre of our world. The contributions Dr. Shutt, in particular, and your family as a whole made in that environment alone stands out as a personal favoured memory. Although heartfelt with sorrow on so many levels, it was comforting to be reminded that there remains a network of 'family' who will always be there to love and support you. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time of remembrance.

Although he probably never knew it,Ken had a profound effect on my life, as he became my role model when he came to my house in the spring of 1957, to investigate my application to become a member of Edmonton Chapter, Order of De Molay. He was in Grade 12 at Scona Comp, self-assured, poised, confident and extremely well dressed, down to his Clark's desert boots. I joined Edmonton Chapter, and marvelled at the memory work and precision ritual that enfolded before me, and none was better than Ken. Although I subsequently joined Jubilee Chapter Ken and I crossed paths often, for after my 3 years at Scona Comp I entered U of A, and enrolled in Dentistry to his Medical path. Each time we met, would it be Chapter meetings or the halls of the Medical Building he would always enquire about my world and how I was moving thru it, and it was with a great sense of pride on my part that he would compliment and encourage me. During these years I remember a very pretty girl who was the sister of another member of Edmonton Chapter, Don Cornborough. She was a Chapter Sweetheart, and I can assure you, Anne, that you certainly had my heart. And so it is that I must give to you, Anne, and all your family my sincerest and heartfelt condolences. On closing I must recount the conversation at a Christmas dinner this year when we were all asked to name the person who made a difference. Mine was a tie; Mr Radomsky, my Physics and Chemistry teacher at Scona Comp, and Ken. And on a profession level, Ken fitted my wife of 48 years, Betty Anne, with contacts 2 months before I met her. Tammy and Family, I am so sorry to hear about your dad, Dr. Shutt. He was such a nice man. I will always remember his kind smile as he walked the hallway of the Royal Alex Eye Clinic. Working with him in clinics was always so nice, as he was always such a kind, soft spoken man. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time!
