Please accept my condolences in this time of sorrow.
posted by David Edgar : Mr. Lightfoot was my grade 9 home room teacher at McKernan school in 1958. I last saw him at a reunion we held at the school Nov. 30 2002 and we had a pleasant chat. I still carry with me some of the jokes he told in class back in 1958 and think of him every time I tell them. He was one of my favorite and best teachers .Gone but not forgotten. We extend our sincere sympathy to you. Alice enjoyed teaching with Roy at both Mount Royal and Norwood Schools. Alan knew Roy through our involvement with curling. He always had a happy outlook on life and a good sense of humour. It was a privilege to know him.

I taught with Mr Lightfoot at Holyrood school my first year of teaching. I once asked him:,"what do you teach?" His response was : "children!" I never forgot the intrinsic message of his response and it made me a better teacher. I was blessed to have Mr Lightfoot as a mentor and example of quality professionalism.
