Kathleen Redmond

In Loving Memory of

Kathleen Redmond

of Edmonton
Apr 4, 1912 - Dec 20, 2014

With heavy hearts her family announces the passing of Kathleen Redmond at 102 years old on December 20, 2014. We are grateful to have had our mother, grandmother and aunt with us, with an active and sound mind, for so long.

Kathleen was an interested and compassionate participant in life and with those around her as her family, friends, and community during the entire course of her long life.

She leaves to mourn her daughters, Shirley Redmond, Edmonton; Janet Chisholm, France; grandson Brock Chisholm (Angie), England; granddaughter, Heather St. Pierre, (Paul), England; niece, Norma Weir, Halifax; nephew, Bill Redmond, (Kelowna); great granddaughters, Scarlett, Laila and Freyja, England; god-son James Thompson (Moni), Edmonton. She was predeceased by her loving husband, James Redmond, and her dear sisters Eileen Redmond and Joyce McDonald.

Kathleen was the daughter of pioneers who emigrated from Ireland in 1908 and settled near Edgerton, Alberta. Her happy early life in the rural community was always very special to her. She was a capable partner with her husband in the farm during the depression and war and then in business. They especially enjoyed their time as owners and operators of the Circle M Guest Ranch.

Kathleen participated in many organizations in leadership roles – the Order of the Eastern Star, as a Girl Guide Commissioner and numerous significant volunteer activities. She was an active and positive influential member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church for 54 years.

Kathleen was known for her hospitality and generous spirit, providing caring and support to her many friends and relatives during times of illness and adversity. Great meals and good food were always readily shared. She had a number of life long friends and has out-lived them all. Kathleen was very proud of her family and has left us a wonderful legacy of love and caring for each other.

The family wishes to thank the special friends who provided care and support in the final period of her life. We are grateful to the staff of Millwoods Continuing Care Centre for their care and compassion.

A Memorial Service will be held early in 2015. Cremation has taken place.

Contributions in her memory may be to a charity of choice or Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
