Marcia, daughter of the late Peter and Nettie Albrecht, passed away peacefully in her home on January 10th.
While completing her high school education at the FCJ Convent (Edmonton), Marcia participated in the school’s Gilbert and Sullivan musicals, and continues her Royal Conservatory studies in piano. Lasting friendships were made at that time with fellow students and the teaching nuns.
Marcia received her Teacher’s Degree in Home Economics from the U of A in 1966, and taught her first year in a country school in Falun, AB, before transferring to the Edmonton Catholic School system. After leaving the teaching profession, Marcia went into business, founding The Bunting Bag, which specialized in clothing for infants and young children.
Family and friends were Marcia’s love and joy. As a child, she enjoyed many summers with relatives in Winnipeg, and Lake Winnitoba. She later travelled with friends on trips to Europe and the United States.
Marcia was multi-talented: a master seamstress, a creative craftsperson, a gifted conversationalist, and a first-rate hostess when entertaining family and friends in her home.
Marcia is survived by her sisters, Marlene Hendriks Albrecht, Marianne (Jack) Schofield; niece, Joanne Schofield; nephews, JP Schofield, Peter Hendriks, Christopher Alexander (Lori); and grandniece, MacKenzie.
She also leaves behind a lot of caring relatives, friends and personal caregivers. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for her over many years.
At Marcia’s request, no funeral services will be held. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
