Jul 6, 1925 - Mar 21, 2015
On the evening of Saturday, March 21, 2015 after spending a magical day surrounded by loving family and friends, Jeannie passed away peacefully with her daughter at her side.
Jeannie had a huge heart and was a very spiritual being, embracing the best of all religious beliefs and finding great comfort in her own very personal faith. She was without a doubt a consummate storyteller delighting her family and friends right to the end. She will always be remembered as being a whimsical yet strong willed woman with a wicked sense of humor. She was a woman who lived many lives and traveled many highways, and she celebrated all of them. She was fearless and determined, full of laughter and love; a true force to be reckoned with.
She was the third of eight siblings born on the family farm in Southern Alberta. From the early days she loved helping her brother Bob with the planting and the harvesting. She was a trailblazer proven by her determination to become the first stewardess without being an RN. She persevered and fulfilled her dream of becoming a stewardess with C.P. Air in 1948 and explored the world.
In 1963 she and her daughter Marilyn moved to Pakistan to be with her sister Aliya and children Mahmoud and Mahmuda; it proved to be a wonderful three-year adventure. Upon her return to Edmonton she entered the travel industry eventually owning her own agency.
Her greatest joy was the birth of her granddaughter Anisa in 1992. She did not hesitate to move from Edmonton to White Rock to be closer to her.
Jean was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Jim and Bob Saddy; and sister, Aliya Ali.
She is survived by her sisters, Betty (Richard) Assaly and Alma Shaben; brothers, Edward (Marcy) Saddy and Tom (Franc) Saddy and her much loved nieces and nephews.
She will be forever loved and missed by her daughter, Marilyn, son-in-law, Michael; and granddaughter, Anisa, the light of her life.
