It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Mel Petley-Jones on July 12, 2015, one month short of his 101st birthday.

He was the father of: Judy (Howard) Browning and their children, Greg (Tammy) and Scott (Jillian); Jamie (John) Craig and their children, Scott (Audrey Dion), Ginger (Mark) Ropchan; Matthew (Sue Danahy) and his children Robbie, Julia (Spencer Krug), Olivia (Tyler Jackson), and their Mother Audrey Lyon; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mel was predeceased by his wife Mary, his son, Terry and daughter-in-law, Mernie Petley-Jones. He was the last of 6 siblings, Llewellyn, Stan, Arthur, Ralph and Evan.

He will also be remembered by close family friend Patsy; as well as Sheila, Mark and all the neighbours.

Dad was a very cheerful, caring person who enjoyed family and friends. Mel was a photographer for the Provincial Government. He loved sitting in his beautiful garden which he created year after year. The winter months were spent in his jersey watching the Oilers.

At Mel’s request there will be no formal service held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, 8440-112 street, Edmonton AB T6G 2B7.
