of Edmonton
Mar 2, 1926 - Dec 10, 2015
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alexander Van Aller on December 10, 2015 at age 89.
He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife of 68 years, Hermanna; daughters, Lydia, Johanna, Evelyn (Rod) and sons, Mitch (Roxie) and Hank; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Alex had a great love of the outdoors and spent many afternoons walking the paths along the Edmonton river valley with his best buddy and neighbour, Morgan (Trisha). Five days prior to suffering a stroke, he hiked 10k around Lake Louise. He made many friends during his career with the CN Railway and while vacationing in Sky Valley, CA. Having lived in occupied Holland during WWII, he had the utmost respect for those who fought or sacrificed their lives for our freedom and never missed a Remembrance Day ceremony.
Cremation has taken place and at Alex's request, no Funeral Service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 10985 – 124 Street, Edmonton NW, AB, T5M 0H9; Valour Place Society, 11109 -111 Avenue, Edmonton NW, AB, T5G 0C6 or to a charity of your choice.
