Johanna Dekker was born January 10, 1927, in Schoond˙ke, The Netherlands and passed away peacefully and surrounded with love in her home on January 29, 2016. She has joined, in the presence of God, her loving husband Henry (1997) and beautiful daughter Joyce Siebenga (1992) who predeceased her.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Mary-Ann (Tom) DeVries, Anita (Allan) Brown, Gerald Dekker (Angela), Henry Dekker (Mergie), 11 grandchildren, Nathan (Elizabeth), Kristen (Josh), Amanda (Kyle), Deanne (Tyler), Sarah (Nate), Alyssa (Johan), Julia (Daniel), Stephanie (Ryley), Jonah, Jacob and Keegan and 7 great-grandchildren, Aurora, Lilliana, Claire, Walter, David, Emaline and Camilla. She is also survived by her loving sister, Hanny Valk (Phil) and extended family in Canada, The Netherlands and Australia.
Johanna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, GG, sister and friend who cherished her family and lived her life in the care and grace of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Thank-you to the staff and caregivers of Emmanuel Home and the Royal Alexander Hospital for their love and care of our mom.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at Trinity Christian Reformed Church, 13427-57 Street, Edmonton, on Friday, February 5 at 1:00 pm following a private family interment.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so on Thursday, February 4 between 5:00-8:00 pm at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home., 10011-114 Street, Edmonton.
