of Edmonton

In the early morning of August 21st, Lena "Lee" Ramsay slipped peacefully away at the age of 99.
She leaves behind her daughter Jan (Marcel) de Leeuw; her brother Roy Oldenburg; her sister-in-law Edna Oldenburg; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Lee was raised on a ranch south of Vermilion where she managed to "catch the eye" of a young man from Edmonton who came down to begin his teaching career at the local country school. After marrying Robert Ramsay in 1943, they set out to begin their married life in a small town and later in Edmonton where Lee worked for a few years as a bookkeeper for a Dairy Supply Company until they adopted their daughter. Lee then became a stay-at-home Mom and member of the morning coffee klatch.
Lee enjoyed golfing and curling in her "younger" years along with volunteering with the gift cart at the Cross Cancer Hospital. She enjoyed staying in touch with friends and family with visits over coffee and pie. When mobility became an issue it was by telephone. She enjoyed reading and watching the Nature channels. Her greatest pleasure was derived through painting. Most days would find her at her table painting. She loved painting interesting skies and most pictures had to have mountains and streams.
At her request, there will be no service. Many of you as you look at a wall in your home will find one of her paintings. Take a moment to reflect on the person who painted it and celebrate the person she was and her well-lived life that left behind beautiful treasures.
My husband and I wish to thank all of those who cared for her at the Youville Home during her last years and especially during her last few days.
May you rest in peace with the love of your life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Foundation or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta.
