"Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God."
Psalm 42:5
Hank Knol, beloved partner, father and friend, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at the age of 91 while vacationing in Mazatlan, Mexico.
Hank will be dearly missed by his loving partner Bernice; his children Jean, Ron & wife Suzanne, Jeff & wife Colleen, and Bryan & wife Kathy; as well as his ten grandchildren and many great grandchildren, his in-laws Gerry & Wilma Thys, Tiny Thijs, Maud Thijs and Remmelt & Riet Thijs, and his numerous nieces and nephews here in Canada and in The Netherlands.
Hank was predeceased by his brothers, Stefanus and Jan; sisters, Jannie, Aly, and Annie; brothers-in-law, Klaas and Roelof Thijs, Johan van Dijk, Wim Kolkman, Auke ("Ike") Eerkes, Bertus Supheert and sisters-in-law, Marijke and Minie Knol, Lena Thijs and Ruby Eerkes.
Hank lived a long and full life. He was born in The Netherlands in 1925, served in the Dutch army and immigrated to Canada with his dear wife Remmina in 1951. Hank worked as an electrician, eventually starting his own business Paramount Electric and then The House of Light. Both supplied many new Canadians (and high school students) with their first jobs.
Hank and Remmy enjoyed many years of travel, especially to Florida and Mexico, until Remmy’s illness forced them to stay at home. After Remmy’s death in December of 2006, Hank eventually found love and wonderful companionship with Bernice Sharrun, and they enjoyed numerous holidays together.
Visitation will held on Thursday, February 16 at Foster & McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton, from 7 - 9 p.m.
