On Tuesday, February 7, 2017, Arthur Dennis Herbert, passed away at the age of 94 in St. Albert, Alberta.
Dennis was pre-deceased by the pillar and love of his life, his wife, Doreen, and by his only brother, Bryn, and brother-in-law Alec.
Lovingly Dad/Grandpa will be remembered by his children: Valrie (Doug), Robert (Pat), Craig (Pat), and Brian (Sue); grandchildren: Trisha, Brad, Allison, Colin, Vanessa, Kristine, Andes, Bryn, Colm; great-grandchildren: Maya, Marley, Ella, Eden, Ava and Jailyn; sisters-in-law, ‘Bets’ Simpson and Nan Herbert; brother-in-law, Craig (Sylvia) Allison, and their families.
After the war, Dennis continued to work in the Canadian Armed Forces as a pilot. He was proud of his contributions while serving in the RCAF and working on safety practices in industry. Upon retiring, he joined the Safety Department of the Alberta Worker’s Compensation Board for the remainder of his professional career. His love for music, painting/drawing, linguistics, swimming, walking, travel, history, hunting, fishing, and gardening continued throughout his long and wonderful life, as did his sense of
humour and enjoyment of gatherings with family and friends.
Not standing still while he enjoyed these hobbies, Dennis contributed his time to volunteer associations including the Friends of the Provincial Museum (Edmonton) and Ducks Unlimited.
According to Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be a funeral service or celebration of his life.
