It is with heavy hearts that the family of Arie Vandermeer announces his sudden passing at the age of 75 years.
Arie was born in Den Hague, Netherlands on March 22, 1941, the 2nd son and fifth child out of eight children, to Arie & Dina Vandermeer. In 1952 he immigrated to Canada with his immediate family, leaving behind many extended family members and close friends. Edmonton forever became his new home, and in 1963 he met and married Willemina (Wilma) Klooster, a loving and devoted wife of 45 years.
Arie will be forever remembered by his three children, Greg (Karen), Arie Jr. (Brenda) and Susan (Travis); seven beloved grandchildren: Brian, Breanna, Taylor, Brayden, Matthew, Kassandra, and Shaelyn, as well as three great grandchildren: Damian, Daxyn and Karter. He is survived by his siblings: Hennie, Jerry, Audrey, Thea, Casey and by numerous extended family and friends.
Arie was predeceased by his wife, Wilma; parents, Arie and Dina; in-laws, Jacobus and Hendrikje Klooster; sisters, Sjaan and Dina; and granddaughter, Brandi.
Arie was loved by all his family and friends and will be sadly missed. He cherished the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were his pride and joy and he lived for them; he will be remembered in them and was always about them.
Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Westlawn Memorial Gardens (10132 163 Street).
