Wayne was born and raised in Saskatchewan, and throughout his life in Alberta his identity as a Roughrider-loving Saskatchewanian never diminished. Early in his long career with Esso, Wayne was transferred to Edmonton and he set down deep roots. He enjoyed his career at Esso; he retired at 55, but chose to continue working for an additional 13 years. Many of his colleagues became cherished friends. Wayne possessed an enormous capacity for establishing and maintaining friendships, many of which lasted the entirety of his life. Sport was a constant presence, from boyhood days of playing football and hockey, to baseball and curling for decades, and later pursuits of racquetball, squash and golf. He enjoyed the avid competition and the good-natured sociability of his chosen activities. Above all else, Wayne was dedicated to his family. He provided unwavering, gentle support and delighted in the company of the people he loved.
Please join his family in celebrating his life and sharing memories. Wayne's Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Foster & McGarvey Funeral Home (10011-114 Street, Edmonton).
