After a lifetime of love and devotion to her family, Betty Assaly passed peacefully on August 23, 2017.
A loving wife and mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Betty's warmth and attention to her large extended family and friends is legendary. Lovely and loving, sincere and kind, she was a keen participant in her community, with an unshakeable passion for life.
Married for an amazing lifetime of 67 years to her loving husband Richard, she provided us with a model of deep-rooted family values. Treasured by all, eternally radiant, Betty is love.
She was born December 3, 1926, in Bassano, Alberta and grew up in Edmonton with her seven siblings. She will be terribly missed by her loving husband Richard, her children Elaine, Denise, Tracy, Janet, Richard, Donna and their spouses, 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, her many nieces and nephews, her sister Alma and brothers Edward and Tom. Betty was predeceased by her siblings Jim, Bob, Aliya and Jean.
A service to honour Betty will be held Tuesday, August 29 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church, 11526 - 76 Ave followed by a reception from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the Royal Mayfair Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for the children's program at St. Paul's United Church at the above address.
