Dec 30, 2017
We remember and celebrate the life of Constantin Papadimitropoulos (Gus Pappas), who sadly died the evening of December 30, 2017 at 85 years of age in Edmonton, Alberta.
Our beloved uncle, great uncle, brother-in-law and friend was born on February 20th, 1932 in Skepasto, Kalavrita, Greece to his father, Vassilis and mother, Georgia. He was one of six siblings who were devoted to one another throughout the entirety of their lives. Gus moved to Edmonton in the late 1950s. He was followed to Edmonton by his sister Sophia and his brother Jim.
Gus, who had lived through the difficult times of World War II in Greece, was loved and valued by all who knew him. He lived through the siege of Kalavrita which occurred in WWII under German occupation. He served in the Greek Gendarmerie (Chorofilaki) prior to his immigration to Canada. He was a member of the "Greatest Generation" and will be remembered as such.
He was an exemplary man of strong moral character, who never wavered. He was a kind and generous soul who inspired love and compassion. His interests included family and business, his life back in Greece, and his nieces and nephews. He devoted much of his time and energy loving and supporting his family and friends. He was especially close to his sister, the late Sophia Votis, and her children.
Gus’ life has always been about love for his family and friends. His wit, charm and generous spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His generosity was a defining quality, which has been indelibly etched in the memories of all who loved him.
Gus is survived by his brother-in-law, Thomas Votis, his two nephews, George and Anastasios; niece-in-law, Olga; grandnephew George Thomas and grandniece Sophia; as well as nieces, Aspasia and Voula; nephews, Angelo, Takis, Bill and Kostas; grandnieces and grandnephews; as well as other relatives in Greece and America.
