Rudolf "Rudy" Walch

of Edmonton

January 3, 2018, Rudy passed away peacefully and with dignity at the age of 88.

Born in Blieskastel, Germany he emigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1954 where he met and married the love of his life, Dagny Gobius. They moved west in 1962 and raised their family in Edmonton. An engineer by trade, Rudy played a key role in many of the city’s major projects such as the Kingsway Garden Mall and the Millwoods Hospital. Rudy was passionate about his family and he made camping trips memorable for all his children with his story telling and innovative approach to campground etiquette. After 60 years of marriage, Rudy was predeceased by Dagny and he looked forward to being with her again.

Rudy will be lovingly remembered by his children, Carmen (John) Lindsay, Maurice (Susan), Angela (Stewart Owen), Glorietta (Darrell) MacRae; grandchildren, Adam, Annabelle, Ben, Wallace and Naomi; numerous relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Foster & McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011- 114 Street, Edmonton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
