PEMBERTON, Susan (nee Tucker)
September 15, 1947 – March 18, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Pemberton after a valiant struggle against GBS.
Susan will be lovingly remembered by Ken, her husband of 48 years; children, Kelly (Michael) and Thomas; as well as her grandchildren, Georgia, Carter, Quinton, Felicity.and Oliver. Susan’s extended family was also very important to her; she was close to her siblings, Brian (Wendie), Cathy (Tom) and Judy (Larry). One of the highlights of her life was the road trips that the three sisters took to reunions with their cousins.
Her most rewarding job was as an occupational therapy aide working with the veterans at the Kipnes Centre. Crafts of all kinds were at the center of Susan’s life. After she retired, when she wasn’t sewing dresses for her granddaughters, she was stamping cards, making quilts, or doing Japanese torn paper art with the Washi Chigiri-e club.
Above all, her children and grandchildren were the source of her greatest joy; especially spending time with them hanging out at the lake. Susan’s kindness and her sense of adventure and fun will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to all the family and good friends who have shown their love and support to Susan during her illness. We also wish to thank Dr. Sam Marcushamer and the wonderfully compassionate nursing staff of the Royal Alex ICU for the excellent care they provided to Susan.
Susan loved animals and always had one or two pets. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA (Edmonton Humane Society). No formal service will be held.
