of Edmonton
Jun 18, 2018
Jake was born in Bolsward, Holland, the first born of 5 children. During his late teens the family moved to Canada where he spent the rest of his life in Edmonton. He was predeceased by his parents, Abel and Harriet, and his only sister Peggy. He is survived by three brothers, Martin (Lisa), Sako (Adriana), John (Shirley) and numerous nephews and nieces.
While living with schizophrenia, Jake led a productive life as truck/bus driver for the City of Edmonton and spent many years at the Queen’s Printer for the provincial government.
His love of music and reading was a constant in his life, playing the accordion and trumpet. He continued to educate himself in mathematics and languages.
Jake lived in various senior’s facilities in Edmonton. Thank you to the staff of Emmanuel Home, Grace Manor, and especially Capital Care Lynnwood where he spent his last years receiving loving care.
We are grateful that we can know he is now in heaven with his Saviour and no longer dealing with the infirmities of mind and body.
Interment will take place at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 21 at Westlawn Cemetery. A Memorial Service will follow at Trinity Christian Reformed Church, 13427 – 57 Street, Edmonton at 11:30 am.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rehoboth Christian Ministries, 3920 – 49 Ave, Stony Plain, Alberta, T7Z 2J7.
