With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Cynthia Ann Bertolin, at the age of 55 in Calgary, AB on Friday, July 27th in the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. Surrounded by her family, she died from injuries sustained during a fall. She was born December 13, 1962, in Fort Williams (Thunder Bay), Ontario to Larry and Annamae Desmeules. Cynthia graduated from University of Alberta Law School in 1989. She married Gianfranco Bertolin on July 4, 1986, in Edmonton. She worked as a lawyer, CEO and business consultant throughout her career. Most recently she worked for her own company, Sunrope, advising Metis and First Nations groups around the province. She will be fondly remembered by her mother, Annamae Desmeules; husband, Gianfranco Bertolin; two children, Bianca and Harlan; siblings, Larry (Debra) Desmeules, Charles Desmeules, Gayle (Wayne Tymofichuk) Desmeules; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Family, friends, and others whose lives Cynthia touched are invited to a Memorial Service at Foster & McGarvey Funeral Home, (10011 - 114 Street NW) on Tuesday, August 7 at 2 p.m. for a time of fellowship and refreshments. For those unable to attend the service a live stream, donated by the McMurray Metis, is available.
