With heavy heart we announce the passing of our hero Harry Timinski, at the age of 87. Harry’s strong heart, filled with so much love and duty, fuelled a valiant three year fight with brain cancer. But with peace in his soul he passed on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018 in his home, surrounded by his family, with the sun shining on him through his bedroom window.
Harry was born in Kaleland, Alberta in 1931 and moved to Edmonton with his family at the age of 8. He explored various interesting jobs such as a travelling carnie, highway building in Frank Slide and in Taber and also gold mining in Yellow Knife. He found his home and calling though with the City of Edmonton Fire Department and proudly served 34 years - without a recorded sick day! He retired as a District Chief on his 60th bday only because it was mandatory. Harry was known to many as ‘Uncle Harry’ and taught us all to appreciate every milestone of life and celebrate our loved ones.
Harry is lovingly remembered by his wife Lynne (nee Forman), of 56 years; his three children, Bonni (Rick Hrynyk) Gilroy, Neil Timinski and Tara (Cameron) Mitchell; his four grandchildren, Darby, Caden, Riley and Ruby; son-in-law Joel Gilroy; and by his brother John. Harry was predeceased by his sister Pansy Ferrier and brother George.
A Celebration of Harry’s Life will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton.
