Mr. Henry Raymond Groleau, of Edmonton, Alberta passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the age of 81.
Henry was born to parents Théodore Groleau and Véronique (Hébert) Groleau on June 12, 1937 in St. Paul, AB. He grew up as the second child of a family of four boys. He graduated from the University of Alberta in 1970 with a degree in social work. In 1969, he married Jacqueline Villeneuve and had two children René and Jocelyne. In 1982, Henry remarried Madeleine Duteau. Henry was predeceased by his father Théodore in 1981 and his mother Véronique in 1992. In recent years, he was predeceased by his brother Joffre (2017) and Théodore (2018).
Dad worked his entire life as a social worker. The first part of his career was with the government of Alberta. In later years he choose to take a path of service and he transitioned to working in the inner city. In particular, he worked at Operation Friendship and was a volunteer at the Food Bank and the Good Samaritan Society.
Henry is survived by his brother Alfred, his son, René Groleau his daughter, Jocelyne (Groleau) Gagnon; his son-in-law Jayson Gagnon; his grandchildren Alexandre, Zachary, Sarah, Kate and Evan; his former wives Jacqueline Villeneuve and Madeleine Duteau; three step-daughters Michelle, Madeleine and Patricia and their family.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019, at Paroisse St. Thomas d’Aquin, 8410 - 89 Street NW, Edmonton.
