Edward passed away peacefully (83 years old), leaving his wife of 50 years, Eda Pottruff; along with his sister, Joyce (Mike) Melnyk; daughters, Kimberly (Sam) Day and Deneen (Steven Hutton) Holowaychuk; stepchildren, Sharon (Dan) Durham, Douglas Pottruff and Kevin (Marjorie) Pottruff; son-in-law, Roger Allen; as well as grandchildren, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, Metro and Mary Hackman; sons, Darrell and Carey Hackman and stepdaughter, Carol Allen.
In Ed’s early years he owned and operated along with his parents and brother-in-law Mike, the Viking Smorgasbord restaurant in downtown Edmonton and later went on to open Alberta Caterers. After many years in the restaurant industry Ed made a change and had an extensive career as an insurance agent.
Ed enjoyed spending time at Pigeon Lake with family and friends. He was an avid curler and golfer with many accomplishments and stories to share.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. At Ed’s request no funeral will be held. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
