James McCrone Murland

On December 07, 2019 James Murland passed at the age of 101 years.

Predeceased by his loving wife, Ruth; parents, George and Mary; 7 sisters and 2 brothers. Survived by brother, John; sons, George (Wendy), Jim (Joanne), and Keith (Dianne); grandchildren, Kevin, Erin, Morgan, Shannah, and Andrea; 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews

Born in Kirkonnel, Scotland, he immigrated to Canada in 1929 and the family settled in the Radway area. The family then moved to the Ritchie area of Edmonton. He served with the Canadian Armed Forces during WWII, seeing service in Sicily, Italy and Holland. Upon his return he completed an apprenticeship as a plasterer, and forged a career as an industry leader which carried him through to retirement.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Foster & McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011 - 114 Street NW, Edmonton. Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association of Alberta or the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
