(Maiden: Vandermeer)
of Edmonton
The family of Grace Strasbourg is heartbroken to announce that Grace left this earth August 2, 2021. After a brave battle with pnemonia she was diagnosed with advanced Tcell lymphoma. She fought with bravery and dignity. In her final hours her deep love for family shone through until she took her last breaths.
Grace was born Jan 26, 1933 to Dr. William & Gertrude Vandermeer in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She was incredibly proud of her Dutch heritage and after moving to Edmonton, Alta. she always remained a proud Jersery girl at heart.
Her true passion was her music and family. She married Victor Strasbourg in 1958 and built a beautiful life with their two daughters, Cheryl and Debbie. Grace passed on the love of music to her entire family and many cherished memories were had sitting around the piano. A proud piano teacher, Grace not only shared her gift with children, she spent her life playing for funerals, church choirs and giving her time and gifts to many seniors homes in Edmonton.
Her love of caring for family and friends was shown through cooking family meals, travelling on many family holidays, and always being ready to brag up her grandchildren. She endeared her family with many catch phrases "no fooling", and her ability to create her own pronunciation of almost every word-she was creative and generous at heart. She taught us many lessons on faith, family and love.
Grace will be dearly missed by her husband, Victor Strasbourg; daughters, Cheryl Tofin (Darcy) and Debbie Van'terve (Theo); brother, Bill Vandermeer (Wendy); grandchildren: Jocelyn Dupuis (Nathan), Celene Dupuis (Mark), Sheena Van'terve, and Taneda Van'terve; great grandchildren: Tyson Grismer, Alton Barsi and Louis Dupuis- Kennedy.
She has been welcomed in heaven by her parents, William and Gertrude Vandermeer; brother, Robert "Bob" Vandermeer; son-in-law, Louis Dupuis and granddaughter, Danae Dupuis.
She lived the most beautiful life, and although her departure will leave a hole, her legacy of love will live on for a lifetime.
We love you our Amazing Grace. Enjoy your margarita's in paradise.
