It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our dear mother and grandma, Olga Kettner. Olga passed away on February 2, 2022, at the Youville home at the age of 90 years surrounded by her family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Ken (Jocelyne); daughters, Marlene (Dave) and Debbie (Real); grandchildren: Zachary, Levi, Matthew, Timothy, Annelise, Marc and Laura; brother, Richard (Elizabeth); sister-in-law, Sigrid as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Arthur Kettner; brothers, Erich and Walter Gammer and sisters, Elsie Bater, Clara Gunther, and Teresa Vander Water.
Olga was born in Germany/Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1953 where she joined her sisters and cousin in Winnipeg Manitoba. Here she met the love of her life, a farm boy named Art Kettner, and was married in 1956. They farmed the family farm in Minitonas, Manitoba. Olga became a member of the local First Baptist Church when she moved to Minitonas. Worshipping faithfully and raising her children to know her Lord, her Saviour and her Strength was a priority. In 1996, they left Manitoba and moved to St. Albert, Alberta.
Olga loved the domestic side of life and everything she did was a labor of love for her husband and family. She was known for her delicious baking and meals that were enjoyed by many. Attending church, gardening, sewing, cooking, and reading were very dear to her heart. In 2019, diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Olga moved to the Youville Long Care Home in St. Albert.
A Funeral Service with visitation 1 hour prior will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9th, 2022, at St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert, Alberta. Interment will follow.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the unit 5 staff at the Youville Home. Your care and tender support for mom in her last years are greatly appreciated.
