(Maiden: Johnson)
of Edmonton
The family of Violet Moore of Edmonton, formerly of Spirit River, AB is saddened to announce her passing at the age of 97 years.
Vi will be forever in the hearts of her daughters, Pat Moore-Juzwishin (Don), Margaret Morley (Rob), and Laurie McGraw (Louis); grandchildren, Kelsey (Mike), Petra (Randall), Avril, Peter, Ben, Zachery, Amiyah, and Madison; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Peggy, Shirley, and Doris; as well as relatives and friends near and far whose lives were touched by her kindness, compassion, and friendship.
Vi was predeceased by her husband, Don; siblings, Victor, Ruby (Gerry), Irene (Keith), and Jim (Margaret); in-laws, Katherine (Ray), and Jack; and nephews, Eric and David.
Vi grew up in Rycroft, AB and received her RN from the Royal Alexandra School of Nursing in 1948. She cared deeply for children and spoke fondly of her time in paediatrics. After moving to Spirit River with Don she nursed at the Holy Cross Hospital and was often called to special a patient in hospital or accompany them to Edmonton for acute care - notably a burn patient by train and a polio patient by plane.
Vi was a loving and caring wife, mother, and friend; devoted to her faith and to helping children. She had great compassion for the disadvantaged and put the needs of others before her own. She was active in the United Church, local RN Chapters, and, through the Spirit River Volunteens program, mentored teens interested in nursing careers. In 1975 Vi and Don moved to Sidney, BC and enjoyed many years on Vancouver Island before returning to Alberta.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Dhunnoo and the staff at MacTaggart Place for the care and compassion shown to Vi in her last months.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, April 8th, 2022 at Riverbend United Church, 14907 - 45th Avenue, Edmonton.
Memorial Donations may be made in Vi's name to https://OperationSmile.ca; Riverbend United Church, Edmonton; or Spirit of Peace United Church, Spirit River.
