It is with great sadness, heavy hearts, and much love that we announce the passing of our wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend Jan Macgregor.
Jan was born in Smithers BC in 1937. She was raised and educated in Victoria, BC where she spent many happy years as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and teacher. Jan proudly spent 30 years of her teaching career at Meyokumin Elementary School where she specialized in early childhood development and handicapped children services. Along with being awarded "Teacher of the Year" for two consecutive years, Jan also took on the role of Acting Principal for two years - choosing to return to teaching due to her love of working hands on with the children. She cherished her teaching experiences which took her from Victoria & Prince George - to Edmonton & Calgary - back to BC (Vancouver) - then finally back to Edmonton where she happily retired in 2004.
These years brought her so many wonderful memories. A loving family which she spent much time with, retirement relaxation snow-birding in Arizona, and exciting travels that took her around the world - Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Panama Canal, with most recently a revisit to Alaska for their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years; Jim Macgregor, their children; Nancy (Bernie) Ferbey, Jim (Dalphine) Macgregor, and Heather (Dale) Macgregor-Turetski, grandchildren; Jake and Wil Ferbey, Sean and Emily Macgregor, and Kyle VanSoest, and sisters; Beth (Ray) Chenosky of Virginia Beach USA, and Gail Walton of Victoria BC.
Jan was pre-deceased by her parents; Arthur and Beryl Jones of Victoria, BC, her beloved sister and brother-in-law; Alice and Bob Tomlinson, and brother-in-law; Nick Walton.
A Celebration of Jan's Life will be held at a future date, and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mazankowski Heart Institute.
