With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Merle Lorraine (nee Cudmore) Shugg on Wednesday, August 9, 2022, at the age of 94.

Merle is survived by her daughter, Peggy Mair (Peter); grandchildren: David (Raelene), Cameron (Vikki), Kathryn, Andrew (Cassie); sons, Keith (Diane) and Jeff (Gail); grandchildren: Kurtis and Scott; along with her five great grandchildren: Lillian, Owen, Heidi, Poppy, and Dominic. She will be fondly remembered by numerous relatives and dear friends.

Born in Toronto and married to Gordon (predeceased) she raised a family of three while moving around the world to locations such as Australia, the USA, and within Canada. Spending her last fifty years in Alberta, she watched her family grow and actively participated in the raising of her grandchildren. Mum was also passionate about her many dogs and grew beautiful gardens with amazing flowers wherever she lived.

She had many memorable times in her life especially with her best friend, Virginia Bean from girlhood.

Merle's life will be celebrated with a private family event. She will be sadly missed and forever remembered.

The family would like to thank the University of Alberta Hospital and St. Albert Retirement Residence for their care.
