(Maiden: Findlay)
of Edmonton
A wonderful wife, a beloved mother, and a prolific artist, Frances May Ferrier will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Born in 1932 in Coaldale, Alberta, to John "Jack" and Margaret Findlay, Fran was raised in Kimberly, BC. Fran worked in the early days of computing as a Chief Keypunch Operator in Calgary, where she met her husband of 60 years, Douglas Ferrier. After moving to Edmonton, Fran became an accomplished weaver, whose award-winning work was featured in multiple venues, including a set of kimonos that toured Canadian museums. She was also a long-time member of the Edmonton Weavers' Guild and developed many fond friendships from this involvement. Fran passed peacefully on December 3rd, 2022, in Edmonton and is survived by Doug, her three sons, John, Robert, and Malcolm; and her extended family. Fran was an amazing person, and her kindness, humor, and brilliant energy will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. Her husband, Doug, remembers her with his poem:
Such mournful thoughts that come my way...
I'll deal with them another day.
But this is now, and this I know,
My darling wife, I love you so!
