Peter William Kirkland

On Friday, February 17, 2023, Peter passed away peacefully at the age of 69, after a long battle with asbestosis and emphysema.

Peter is survived by his four siblings and their families: Audrey Martyn, Michael Martyn (Karen), Evan and Noah; David Martyn (Christy), Kesina and Rya; Harry Kirkland (Patricia), Matthew Kirkland (Jenna), Claire Kirkland (Fred), Dominic and Renee; Norman Kirkland; and Paul Kirkland (Lynn), Erin Ellis (Matthew), and Kira Kirkland; as well as numerous cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, William D. Kirkland and Claire A Kirkland (Féguenne); and his brother-in-law, John Martyn.

Peter lived in Edmonton his whole life. He worked for Epcor, as a Utility Worker, for 35 years at Rossdale Power plant and EL Smith Water Treatment Plant. He was an avid reader and loved to go fishing. Peter was a kind man with a gentle spirit and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He followed his parents' example and treated everyone with respect.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, May 05, 2023, at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011- 114 Street, Edmonton.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 - University Ave, Edmonton, Alberta, T6J IZ2.
