Bjorg Birt

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Bjorg Birt on Friday March 17, 2023 at the Youville Home in St Albert.

Bjorg is lovingly remembered by her son John (Nancy); grandchildren Amy (Cole) and Glenda (Steven); great grandchildren Grace, Owen and Joanie. Bjorg was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, the love of her life, John "Corky" Birt in 1998 and her daughter Jo-Ann in 2015.

Bjorg was born in Edfield SK to Thordur and Johanna Laxdal, the sixth of ten children. She lived in the Kuroki area until marrying Corky in 1948. The couple lived in Colonsay and Foam Lake until they eventually settled down in Yorkton. They spent many years in Yorkton, raising their children and spending time with their large families and many friends. In 1997, they moved to Saskatoon where Bjorg remained until 2019 when she moved to St. Albert.

Bjorg was a devoted wife. She spent many hours helping Corky with his square dance calling. She was an accomplished bridge player and golfer, and enjoyed playing cribbage. Bjorg was an elegant woman who charmed everyone she met. She truly loved family and relished time spent with them.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Youville Home for their care of Bjorg. A heartfelt thanks goes to Bjorg's niece, Joyce, who spent many hours keeping Bjorg company.

In keeping with Bjorg's wishes, cremation has taken place and an interment will be held in Foam Lake, SK. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the MS Society of Canada.
