It is with heavy hearts that the family of Elza Forest (née Montpetit) announce that our beloved and beautiful maman peacefully slipped away from us on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at the age of 95.
Elza will be lovingly remembered by her children, Denis (Rollande), Laurent (Lucille), Bernard, Guy (Brenda), Jacqueline (Ron), and Paulette (Aain); son in law, Kevin; grandchildren, Alec, Jacques, Charla, Marie (Sue), Patrick, Delia (David), Stephanie (Braedon), Dominique (Atilla), Michael (Jenny), Zachary (Kayla) Danielle (Paul), Rebecca (Cody), Aaron and, Riley; as well as twelve great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by Fern, her loving husband of 68 years; and daughters, Dolores & Monique.
Elza was born in Legal, Alberta and had fond memories of her rural french Alberta upbringing. She and Fern were married in 1951 and lived in Edmonton throughout their married lives raising their family and being committed supporters and participants in the area's French catholic culture. While she worked outside of the home on occasion, including with Fern at Forest of Jewels, our mom was first and foremost our mom and we will be forever grateful for her love and affection and for her daily, lifelong example on being a mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. After Fern's retirement in 1989, they travelled, spent winters In Arizona, and Elza enjoyed her wide group of friends and watching the next generations achieve success and happiness.
Elza's family would like to express our sincere gratitude for the affection, respect and care shown both our parents by the staff at Rosedale Senior Living and in particular Sally, Brandy, Mila and, by Dr. Harkirat Sidhu.
A funeral mass will be held on June 20th at 10 a.m. in Église St. Thomas D'Aquin, 8410 89 St NW, Edmonton.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Catholic Social Services Sign of Hope c/o Catholic Social Services, 12431 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton, T5N 3N3
Arrangements entrusted to Foster & McGarvey St. Albert Funeral Home.
