of Sherwood Park
It is with unbearable sadness and shock that we announce the unexpected passing of Marc Raboud on his 90th birthday at the U of A hospital.
Marc was the most incredible father to Gordon (Grace), Brenda, and Rod. He was also a loving, giving, and proud Grandfather to Morgan and Emily. Marc will also always be remembered by his surviving siblings: Maurice, Cecile, Margaret, Fern, (Jackie); and sister-in-law Heidi; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his much-loved wife Eleanor in Nov of 2020; siblings: Julie, Jean, Luke, and Leonard as well as numerous much loved brothers- and sisters-in-law.
Marc was a kind and considerate man to everyone he encountered. He was always smiling and making a joke. He was quick to tease himself and others. He treated everyone he met with kindness and respect. He worked hard all his life, right up to age 86. Marc started his work life early helping on the family farm in Willow Bunch, Sask. The first paying job he remembers was at about age 9, shoveling coal from a train car with his brother Maurice. Marc worked in a variety of occupations until he moved with his young and not yet complete family to Edmonton in 1969. Later that year his family moved to Sherwood Park, where he lived out the remainder of his life. Here he continued his career as an iron worker. He had a hand in building several of the bridges and buildings around Alberta. He retired from that job in the early 90's due to injury. Always eager to work, to care and provide for his family he began a new career at a local car dealership and worked there for 25 years as a long-distance transfer driver until age 86. Marc had worked all his life and really enjoyed being productive. Even until his death he often said he wished he was still working.
Marc will be greatly missed.
