Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend, Janice Burrough passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023, at the age of 88 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Lynn, Mark (Rosalyn) and Adam (Erin); five grandchildren: Melissa, Paul, and their mother Raffaella, as well as Reegan, Cael, and Cameron; her three great-grandsons: Clark, Parker, and Julius; along with numerous relatives in the UK. She will be dearly missed by her friends in the Order of the Eastern Star and at Mission Hill Village.
Janice was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, John; brother Graham; and her sister-in-law Joan; as well as her beloved parents, May (Davies) and William Thomas.
Janice was born and grew up in Wales where she became a registered nurse, once she married her sailor John they ran pubs, country clubs and hotels in Wales, England, and the British Virgin Islands. The family emigrated to Canada in 1975, and Janice went on to learn the lumber industry from the ground up retiring as Manager of Cedarwood Lumber in Edmonton. Janice loved to travel and did so all over the world including lengthy stays in Australia, China and Singapore. She was the life and soul of the party and loved her many friends especially in the Order of the Eastern Star.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Janice's Life will be held on Saturday, October 21st at 10:00 am in St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, with Pastor Larry Wright officiating. A private family interment will follow in St. Albert City Cemetery.
In Janice's honour please wear something bright or blingy, Mum was not about wearing black!

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Unit 19 and Dr. Dewan and Dr. Lin, at the Sturgeon Community Hospital for their care and compassion. Gratitude also to Janice's doctor of more than 40 years Dr. Ken Chow of Grandin Medical Clinic-you did all you could.
