of Edmonton
It is with profound sadness that the family of Victor Strasbourg announce his sudden passing on November 8, 2023, at the age of 89 years.
Victor will be dearly missed by his daughters, Cheryl Tofin (Darcy) and Debbie Van'terve; grandchildren: Jocelyn Dupuis (Nathan), Celene Dupuis (Mark), Sheena Van'terve (Leah), and Taneda Van'terve (Taylor); great-grandchildren: Tyson Grismer, Alton Barsi and Louis Dupuis- Kennedy. Also, his niece Marlene Duval (Aurel).
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Grace Strasbourg, his granddaughter Danae Dupuis, his son in laws Louis Dupuis and Theo Van'terve.
Raised in Bonnyville, AB on a small farm, Victor had many stories of friends, cheap movies, ice cream and early morning dog sled rides to school. Later moving to Edmonton and meeting and marrying Grace in 1958, Victor was a loyal family man, a fixer of all things broken, a lawn maintenance fanatic, and patroller of mileage on our cars. He took pride in the things he owned including his much-loved Cadillac which was waxed more than driven... to avoid scratches. He worked tirelessly to save and spoil his 2 daughters, flying them to their favourite destination, Hawaii, multiple times. Victor loved the ocean and the hot sand.
He spent his career at Queen City Meats as a distinguished cutter of pork. He shared tales of serving the early Edmonton Oilers and watching Mike Tyson train in the basement. His spare time was spent with his kids and grandkids, playing guitar, and visiting with friends. Always a joke in his pocket, he is remembered as being a funny, caring, and a sociable man who would talk to anyone. He was a genius at saving money and could calculate any figure in his head.
Celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday November 16th, 2023 at St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert. Those wishing to pay their last respects may do so at 12:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
Arrangements entrusted to Foster & McGarvey St. Albert Funeral Home.
