William “Bill” Lundgren Hite at 90 years of age passed away in St. Albert on Thursday, May 16, 2024, after a recent decline in health.
Bill was born on October 14, 1933, to Beda and Jackson Hite in the City of Lloydminster. After Bill graduated from high school in Wetaskiwin in 1951, he worked a few brief jobs before joining Canadian Utilities in 1954. After 35 years of service, Bill retired at age 55.
In 1954, Bill met Naoma while attending Young Peoples at St. Andrews United Church and the couple married in 1959. Bill and Naoma “Nomy” went on to have three children, Shauna (Pat), Cameron (Cindy), and Brent (Kerry). Bill leaves behind his three children; grandchildren, Kane (Luisa), Ashley (Leo), Katie (Clayton), Ethan, Gage (Ali), Zachary (Paige), Chelsea (John), and Aiden; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Peyton, Avery, Trevor, Maverick, and Shay; and special step-daughter, Pearl (Brock). Bill will be missed by many nieces and nephews, close friends, and sisters-in-law, Fran and Kaye. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Nomy, in February of 2016.
After retirement in 1989, Bill and Nomy traveled across Canada and throughout retirement Bill remained active in Kinsmen/K40’s, Masons/Shriners, and St Albert United Church. He lived a large life, had many close friends in the community and was always teasing and generating laughter around him. He will be remembered for his kind and caring nature and will be deeply missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Albert United Church, 20 Green Grove Dr, on June 10, 2024, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, Bill’s wish would be donations be made to Cyctic Fibrosis Canada or Shriners Hospital for Children, organizations Bill strongly supported.
Bill’s family wish to thank the St. Alberta Sturgeon Hospital staff who tended to him in his final days, as well as his many friends and assistants at River Ridge.
