It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nicholas Robert Manson on July 18, 2024, of Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 84.
He will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 62 years, Lee; daughters, Caren (Yahya) Baroudy and Kim (Dan) Nickel; and grandchildren, Ziad, Nisreen, Aaron, and Robin. He is survived by his brother, Ron (Helene) Nykiforuk; and sister, Shirley (Hans) Raab. He will also be dearly missed by many close friends and extended family connections.
Born on July 9, 1940 in Nestow, Alberta, Nick moved with his parents to Edmonton in 1943. Nick and Lee began dating when they both worked as salesclerks at Eaton’s and married on September 2, 1961. Nick joined London Life in 1963 as a life insurance agent and had a successful career spanning over 30 years until he retired in 1995.
Nick had a passion for travel. Together with Lee, they literally travelled the world, but their favorite spot was Kona, Hawaii. Nick also loved aviation, tall ships, Star Trek and shopping for bargains!
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
When I am sad and lonely and everything goes wrong, I seem to hear you whisper, “Cheer up and carry on.” Each time I look at your picture, you seem to smile and say “Don’t cry. I’m only sleeping.” Nick, you are forever in my heart, Lee.
