On Friday, August 2, 2024, Norman passed away peacefully at the age of 67, after a short battle with cancer.

Norman is survived by his three siblings and their families: Audrey Martyn, Michael (Karen) their children Evan and Noah, David (Christy) their children Kesina (Brayden) Lambert and Rya; Harry (Patricia) Kirkland their children Matthew (Jenna), Claire (Fred), their children Dominic and Renee; and Paul (Lynn) Kirkland their children Erin (Matthew) Ellis, and Kira; and numerous cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Claire A. Kirkland (Feguenne); his brother Peter and his brother-in-law John Martyn.

Norman lived in Edmonton and worked in his own business before joining Arrow Welding and Industrial Supplies and finally Air Liquide. He was an avid reader and loved biking and model building. He had a kind and gentle spirit and was always willing to help others. He followed his parent’s example of treating everyone with respect.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday August 31, 2024, at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 - University Ave. Edmonton, Alberta T6J 1Z2 and marked research in memory of Norman Kirkland.

The family gratefully acknowledges the care Norman received at the Palliative Unit, Grey Nuns Hospital as well as the care of Dr. Moore, Dr. Furlong and staff.
