Jan 21, 1973 - Aug 31, 2024
Michael Brown passed away suddenly on August 31, 2024, leaving a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was 51 years old.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Jacqueline; and their beloved children, MacKinley and Jonah. His sudden departure is felt deeply by his sister, Karen Brown; his mother, Susan Kirby (Bill); and his father, Lloyd Brown—whose hearts are broken by the loss of a cherished son and brother. He is also mourned by an extended family that spans both blood and spirit, all of whom are grappling with the absence of his vibrant presence.
Michael's life was a testament to his unwavering dedication to his family and his remarkable ability to turn visions into reality. His passion for his loved ones was boundless: he was always eager to participate in family events, out-of-town tournaments, early morning practices, and more—never missing an opportunity to spend quality time with his children. He was their person. He thrived when planning family ski trips to the mountains, vacations to the beaches of the Okanagan, or catching a Blue Jays game across the border. He instilled in his children a profound sense of integrity, kindness, and joie de vivre, leaving them a solid foundation on which to build their lives.
A passionate sports enthusiast with a wide range of interests—from cycling to volleyball, hockey to rugby—Michael pushed his limits physically and psychologically while participating in endurance and contact sports. He turned his dreams into tangible achievements, creating unique experiences such as playing rugby in Wales, cycling across the lava fields of Kona, and swimming the length of Skaha Lake. What began as a hobby evolved into the driving force behind his entrepreneurial ventures at MB Events and VIBE Volleyball. By transforming his passion for sports into thriving businesses, he realized his visions and built a community that shares his love for athleticism and camaraderie. He forged friendships and professional relationships across these local and international communities, leaving behind a legacy of inspiration and respect.
Michael’s presence was larger than life. He had a one-of-a-kind laugh, a big heart, and a smile that will not be forgotten. Always quick with a joke or a playful remark, Michael had a way of making light of any situation, never missing an opportunity to make us laugh. It was part of his charm and the warmth he brought to every interaction. Wherever he went, there was laughter and connection—he had a gift for drawing people in with his humor. He lit up every space he entered, filling it with energy, fun, and a sense of belonging.
Through his playful nature and genuine care for others, Michael built lasting bonds and created communities wherever he went. Whether on the field, in a business meeting, or on a bike ride with his family, he fostered an environment where we all felt valued and connected.
