On July 3, 2011, Herman Groenewegen passed away into the presence of his LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of 86 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Nell; his children, John (Wanda), Richard (Jane), Jim (Lene), Diana (Ivan) Mast, and Vivian (Gary) Simpson; thirty-one grandchildren (including spouses); fourteen great-grandchildren; and his brother, Kees (Tiny) of the Netherlands. He was predeceased by his two brothers and one sister. A Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011 - 114 Street, Edmonton. Interment will take place at 10:30 am on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Little Mountain Cemetery, 16025 - 50 Street, Edmonton, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm at Ottewell Christian Reformed Church, 6811 - 92A Avenue, Edmonton, with Reverend Martin Mobach officiating. The family is most grateful to the staff at the Edmonton General Hospital Mel Miller Hospice, Unit 9Y, as well as Dr. R.A.J. Neuls and Dr. E.P. Estey for their excellent care.
