On Monday, July 2, 2012, Bill MacLean of Edmonton, Alberta passed away at the age of 86 years.
He is survived by his son, Fraser; daughter-in-law, Angela; granddaughter, Meghan; and grandson, Cameron, all of Langley, British Columbia. Bill will also be missed by his dear friend, Helen From.
Bill was predeceased by his wife Rose in 1990; and two sisters, Vivian Smith and Beth Hoare both of Hopewell, Nova Scotia.
Bill served overseas with the Algonquin Regiment in the Second World War. He worked for the CNR from 1948-1953 in Halifax and Sydney, Nova Scotia. Bill came west in the fall of 1953 and in the spring of 1954 started with the Edmonton Transit System. He drove for 27 years and in 1981 was elected the first fulltime Business Agent - Financial Secretary of local 569. Bill retired in 1986 after 32 years. He loved to travel the world.
Bill was a member of Kingsway Legion 175, a lifetime member Temple Lodge 167, a member of the Scottish Rite, A.A.S.R, and Al Shamal Temple Shrine.
Visitation to be held Friday, July 20, 2012 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Foster & McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 21 at 3:00 p.m. at the same location. Cremation to follow. Bill’s ashes will be taken home to Pictou County, Nova Scotia.
