(Maiden: Laffey)
of St. Albert
Mar 8, 1918 - Oct 26, 2012
Elizabeth (Betty) Dickie passed away peacefully at Youvillle Home at the age of 94 years. She will be deeply missed by her four children, Bonnie of Winnipeg, Stewart (Robyn) of St. Albert, Colin (Ati) of Cambridge Bay, Ian of Toronto; her grandchildren, Shaun (Australia), Sandra (Calgary), Jackie and Cassandra (Nunavut); her great-grandchildren, Liam and Cassandra; as well as, her nieces, nephews and friends.
Betty was predeceased by her loving husband, Henry; brothers, John, Bill, Eddy and Leo and sister, Ruth.
Betty Laffey was born in Paisley, Scotland and married Henry Dickie during WWII. She was in the RAF and he was in the RCAF. Although she lived in Canada for sixty-seven years, you could not take the Scott out of Betty. Family and friends will remember her proud Scottish accent, her wry sense of humor, the many holiday feasts at the Dickie residence and the warmth of her lovingly crotched Afghans that adorn so many homes across the country.
The family would like to thank the staff at Youville Home for their care and kindness.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
