of Edmonton
Jan 11, 1940 - Feb 6, 2013
John passed away suddenly and peacefully on February 6, 2013. He will be forever loved and missed by his children, Randy (Susan), Brian, Spencer (Keely), Susan (Norm) Lacombe, Krista (Greg) Chorney; his sister Linda (Tom) Collier; his aunt, Monota Thorn; eleven grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, John (1993) and Betty (2009), his brother, Holland (2000) and his wife, Christine (2006).
John was born and raised in Edmonton. Musically gifted, in his youth John enjoyed playing in a rock band (the Nomads), sailing at Seba Beach and participating in sports of all kinds. A life-long salesman, John worked in oil-field equipment, home/hardware stores and building supplies. He was an avid Edmonton Oiler and Edmonton Eskimo fan, as well as a supporter of all things Edmonton. John loved the outdoors and took great pleasure in hunting game every fall. He and Christine enjoyed camping around western Canada in their trailer and spent many happy summers at Pine Lake. He took great pride and joy in all his grandchildren, especially in watching their hockey and soccer games.
According to John’s wishes, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be forwarded to the Edmonton Humane Society, 13620 – 163 Street, Edmonton, T5V 0B2.
