With deep sadness, the family of John announces his passing at the age of 92 years.
John will be greatly missed by his children, Janet (Dana), Jack (Nancy), and Joan (Jim) as well as his grandchildren who were so very near and dear to his heart, Alexander, Jane, Ben, Ellie and Will. He is also survived by his siblings Betty and Bill MacGillivray of Calgary.
John was predeceased by his wife, Ellen Charles in 1972 and his dear friend, Alice McMullen in 2013, as well as siblings Katie, Herb, Olive, and Harold.
John (Mac) was born in Calgary and spent his early years working for Alberta Ice before serving in WWII. He later joined Imperial Oil with whom he worked for over 35 years. He moved to Edmonton in 1974 but always remained loyal to his home city. In his later years John enjoyed dancing, travel, being with his grand-children, and his daily walk in the river valley and the Victoria Promenade. John\\\'s thoughtfulness, unwavering support of his family and friends, and wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In keeping with John\\\'s wishes, a service will not be held.
