Jacob Simon Groot passed away peacefully on July 1, 2013 at the Points West Hospice in Grande Prairie with his family by his side. Jacob was born on May 8, 1941 in Andyk, Netherlands.

He is survived by his wife Sheila, his sons Peter (Michelle), Robert (Lois); his daughters Debra (Chris), Brenda (Garry) and Lynn, 14 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his first wife Jeanette; his daughter Sharon; his parents and his brother.

A viewing will take place on Thursday, July 4, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton. A private interment will be at Westlawn Memorial Gardens. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at the Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 19010-87 Avenue, Edmonton.

Donations may be made in Jacob’s memory to the Grande Prairie Palliative Care Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
