Our pioneer, Enid Liddell, has left this world. She passed away suddenly January 5, 2014, at the age of 89. If you know the way Enid lived life, you also know she is deeply missed by her three children and their families: Cathy Hogle (husband Steve; Kirsten (Dustin), Zachary(Ava)), Gary (wife Edie; Heather, Graham) and Brian (wife Heidi; Theresa, Mitchell). Her husband of 47 years, Len, passed away in 1995. She is also mourned by her special friend, George Custance. There are many others in our family tree and circle of friends who will truly miss Enid since she made such an impression wherever she went, with her enthusiasm for life, love of people and penchant for mischief! She authored an amazing life story which began in Plunkett, Saskatchewan, where she was raised and lived through the depression. She left home at 18 and went to Halifax where she joined the WRCNS ("Wrens") and served our country through WWII. She returned home, went to Normal school and then taught in a one room school house. She met and married Len and started married life on the farm. The two of them went on to life in the big city, first Richmond and then Edmonton, where Enid had a profound impact on countless school children as well as the adults she encountered. However, she was - and still is - most proud of the family she raised. She enriched our lives and those around us and we know that will not change as she heads off to blaze new trails.
A Memorial Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 at St. Matthias Anglican Church, 6210-188 Street, Edmonton.
