Lenie Wiersma, age 77, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by her family.
Lenie leaves her husband of 58 years, Herman; children, Fred (Karen), Helen, Jake (Audrey) and Teresa; siblings, Eric Sukkel, Mary Monaghan, Jack Vanderhoff, Janice Vanderhoff, and Brenda DeWit; grandchildren, Terry, Jody, and Ryan Mosicki, Anna and Joshua Wiersma; great-grandchildren Alex and William Mosicki; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Lenie was warm-hearted and generous, the perfect host to Dutch relatives visiting from Holland or to many neighbours, friends and family who dropped by. Lenie was a dedicated mother and wife. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and made may buffalo jackets and touques. She and Herman enjoyed travelling to visit family all over the world. Lenie also worked part time at the Dutch Mill Baker and The Bay. Towards the end of her life, she enjoyed her back yard amongst the beautiful garden with water features, birds and squirrels.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Ottewell Christian Reformed Church, 6811-92A Avenue, Edmonton.
